Stephen Coleman Glasscock of Bastrop County, Texas, served as a Ranger in Hay's Texas Mounted Volunteer Regiment during the Mexican War before being discharged in 1847. In 1862, Glasscock was commissioned as a Jr. 2nd Lieutenant in the Confederate Army and served until the end of the Civil War in 1865.
